KODAK Photo Printer 8800 Firmware V2.43 July 2017 on the KODAK Adaptive Picture Exchange

Installs firmware v2.43 July 2017 on KODAK 8800 Photo Printers.
This firmware update adds support for new media.  It is required for all APEX and KPK systems with 8800 printers.
 
UPDATED: The July 2017 update to this firmware includes support for systems running APEX/KPK V8.X (Windows XP).

Installation Instructions

Installing the v2.43 July 2017 Firmware for the KODAK 8800 Photo Printer on the KODAK Adaptive Picture Exchange


Install the firmware on all 8800 Printers connected to your KODAK Adaptive Picture Exchange (APEX system). Installation will take approximately 10 minutes.


IMPORTANT: Before you begin, make sure that:
• All 8800 Printers are connected, and listed as FOUND in Device Health Check.
• Each 8800 Printer indicates a “Ready” status on the display of the printer.


1. Make sure that the power for the printer(s) is on, and “Ready” appears on the display.
2. From the Main screen of the APEX system, select [Setup]. Enter the password if necessary.
3. Select:
• [Install]
• [Install Software]
4. At “Software Installation. Please insert software installation media...”:
• Insert the CD into the CD drive.
• Wait approximately 10 seconds.
• Select [Check for Media].
5. At “Installation media was found”, select [Yes].
When installation is complete, the system restarts.
6. Remove and store the CD in the software wallet.
7. Does “Ready” appear on the display of the printer(s)?
Yes - Continue with “Verifying that the Firmware is Installed” on page 2.
No - Install the firmware again. If “Ready” still does not display on the printer, contact Service and Support.

Verifying that the Firmware is Installed
1. From the Main screen of the APEX system, select [Setup]. Enter the password if necessary.
2. Select:
• [Diagnostics]
• [Health Checks]
• [Application Health Checks]
3. Verify that “KODAK 8800 Printer Firmware v2.43 July 2017” appears.
4. If “KODAK 8800 Printer Firmware v2.43 July 2017” does not appear, install the firmware again. If it still does not appear, contact Service and Support.
5. Select:
• [Done]
• [Done]
• [Done]


Resetting the Printer Calibration
IMPORTANT: Make sure the firmware is installed before you reset the calibration.
1. From the Setup screen of the APEX system, select [Manage Devices].
2. Select [Thermal Printers].
3. Select the KODAK 8800 Photo Printer.
4. Select [Reset Calibration to Default].
5. Select [Yes] at the prompt.
6. Select:
• [Done]
• [Done]
• [Done]
